Introducing the Mitsubishi Red Peak Challenge!

Inspired by Mitsubishi’s victory in the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Challenge, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia will now be embarking on its latest 4×4 adventure which will see Mitsubishi 4×4 vehicles perform amazing feats on a specially outfitted obstacle truck – the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia.

The Mitsubishi Red Peak Challenge will see the Triton pick-up, the Pajero Sport SUV and the ASX Compact SUV being put through their paces on the purpose-built Mitsubishi truck featuring a wide range of obstacles including a 45-degree, 25-feet tall “sky” ramp that points upwards to the sky – an extreme test for any 4×4 vehicle. The giant ramp will no doubt challenge the capabilities of both man and machine while offering a bird’s eye view of the surroundings.

Other challenges include the roller ramp test that will see the 4×4 vehicles “drive through” the Red Peak Challenge truck as well as the side traverse and uneven ramp tests.

The Mitsubishi Red Peak Challenge will make its debut on 23rd August in Penang and roll on to other major cities including Johor Baru and Kelantan over the month of September. Dates and locations are as below:

Admission is free and visitors who make a booking of any Mitsubishi vehicles during the Mitsubishi Red Peak Challenge will receive the special edition Ralliart car boot organizer, while those who test drive any Mitsubishi model will receive an exclusive merchandize (while stock lasts).

The Mitsubishi ASX is the first local assembled by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia. The stylish yet compact SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre MIVEC engine with an output of 150PS and 197Nm. Both the 4WD and 2WD variants utilize a smooth INVECS-III CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) with Sports Mode offering six virtual ratios for enhanced driver involvement while maintaining superb fuel efficiency.

The ASX Compact SUV is priced at RM114,743.50*(2WD) and RM128,879.50* (4WD). The ASX Compact SUV recently won the coveted title of “Best Local Assembled SUV” by Asian Auto Allianz Auto Industry Awards 2014.

The Pajero Sport GL is priced at RM151,277.60* while the Pajero Sport VGT is priced at RM172,211.60*. The highly advanced power-train of the Pajero Sport VGT was once again recognized for its superb fuel efficiency in the Asian Auto Fuel Efficiency Awards 2014 by coming in first in the Premium SUV category.

Both the Pajero Sport VGT and Triton VGT GS come with a high-output 2.5-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 178PS and 350Nm. The Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) delivers uncompromising power while maintaining class-leading fuel efficiency.

The award-winning Triton, one of the best handling pick-up trucks in the market, and widely acknowledged as a trend-setter with its powerful engine, comfortable cabin and enhanced safety features. The Mitsubishi Triton was ranked highest in the 2013 JD Power Malaysia Initial Quality Study (IQS) for the pickup segment. Launch of the new Porsche 911 GT3 in Malaysia

Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the authorised importer of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia officially launched the new 911 GT3 on 15 August 2014 at Sepang International Circuit.

The fifth generation 911 GT3 was unveiled by Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race drivers Earl Bamber and Alif Hamdan in conjunction with the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Round 8 and 9. 

The 911 GT3 is a roadworthy race car developed to offer powerful sporty driving dynamism and an even more refined and emotional everyday driving experience. It features a completely redesigned drive system and chassis that has been systematically developed for even better performance, precision and transverse dynamics. Additionally for the first time, Porsche is using active rear-wheel steering. Depending on the speed, the system steers in the opposite or the same direction as the front wheels, resulting in improved agility and stability.

The Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), which originates from Porsche racing also, makes a comeback on the racetrack. The new 911 GT3 has the fastest and most powerful PDK that Porsche uses for a production vehicle. The PDK was specially developed with characteristics that are directly based on a sequential gearbox from motor racing, thereby providing further performance and dynamics advantages to the driver. 

Base price for the new 911 GT3 starts from RM 1,230,000.00.

Ford Posts All-Time Monthly Sales Record in Malaysia, July Sales Jump 60 Percent

Ford today announced that July sales were an all-time monthly record in Malaysia – besting its previous record performance in June – with overall retail sales that jumped 60 percent year-over-year to 1,390 units.

The record month was driven by continuing strong demand for the popular Ranger, Fiesta and Kuga nameplates and an expanding Ford showroom in Malaysia.

“This is a great way to kick-off the second half of the year. We know that in addition to prioritising value for money, Malaysian drivers also look for segment-leading safety features and smart technologies. With this record sales month, our global Ford vehicles are clearly delivering on these needs,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

July retail sales of the class-defining Ranger pickup soared 115 percent year-over-year in July to 868 units – its best-ever monthly performance in Malaysia. Year-to-date, Ranger is the second-best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, with sales up 53 percent to 4,535 units.

The full Ranger line-up features an unmatched safety package in Malaysia, and is now equipped with additional active and passive safety features, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.

The new Fiesta delivered July retail sales that surged 158 percent year-over-year to 347 units, boosted by strong demand for Ford’s high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine. The 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which was recently named International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year, delivers class-leading power and fuel efficiency in Malaysia. 

The stylish all-new Kuga SUV also contributed to the record monthly performance with July sales of 102 units, bringing its year-to-date total to 580 units. 

Ford’s overall year-to-date sales have now risen 30 percent to 7,910 units.

“Our momentum this year will be given another boost with the launch of the all-new EcoSport SUV later this month. The addition of another segment-leading global Ford vehicle will also help to continue our successful product-led transformation in Malaysia,” said Westerman.

The all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV will help to define a whole new vehicle segment in Malaysia. An aspirational alternative to the compact car, the EcoSport’s blend of versatility and smart connectivity will appeal to customers who live their urban lives to the fullest and love exploring the world outside the city.

BMW Group Malaysia introduces new locally assembled BMW X5

BMW Group Malaysia today introduced the locally assembled model of the premium automaker’s best-selling and most successful Premium Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) – the new BMW X5. The new BMW X5 marks the 15th BMW variant to be assembled in the country.

Introducing the new locally assembled Premium SAV, Dr. Gerhard Pils, Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Malaysia said, “Today, we are proud to once again introduce ‘The Boss!’, the exceptional market leading BMW X5 model which is now built right here in Malaysia for our Malaysian customers. As the newest addition to our strong portfolio of locally assembled premium vehicles, we at BMW are also proud to note that this model is the very first BMW X5 to be locally assembled, marking a historical milestone for us not only here in Malaysia but in South East Asia as well.”

Dr. Pils further noted that the new locally assembled BMW X5 is a further testament to the company’s commitment of added investment in the country which has been a hub for the BMW Group for more than a decade. “The new BMW X5 is the second locally assembled vehicle we have introduced this year alone, further demonstrating that the expansion of our assembly line is a key strategy in BMW’s production roadmap for Malaysia.”

The new BMW X5 xDrive35i exudes an even more exceptional interior ambience of the car as it is now equipped with an electrical Panorama glass roof. Furthermore, The Driving Assistant features which are now fitted in both the new locally assembled BMW X5 xDrive35i and BMW X5 xDrive30d to better provide a more comprehensive safety package include;

Lane Departure Warning, a driver assistance system which is based on a video sensor to help drivers keep their attention on the road ahead by recognizing when the vehicle is straying out of lane unintentionally. The Lane Departure Warning system will provide the driver with an early warning with a discrete vibration of the steering wheel.

Forward Collision Warning, a brake application function which operates via visual and acoustic warning to prevent collisions by providing timely warning should the driver approach a vehicle ahead too quickly.

City Collision Warning Mitigation prevents collisions by automatically braking, at speeds of up to 60km/h with the aim of preventing collisions with cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even pedestrians.

Shell Malaysia is hosting the sixth annual Shell FuelSave Challenge to demonstrate to Malaysians how making smarter choices while on the road can help them improve their fuel efficiency.

The event showcases how easy it is for everyday individuals to become advocates of fuel-saving and be rewarded when they practice the Shell FuelSave Tips, coupled with the use of Shell FuelSave 95 – a fuel that is designed to last longer per tank.

The Shell FuelSave Challenge is part of Shell’s ongoing efforts in educating Malaysian motorists how simple changes to their driving habits and using the right fuel can contribute to a significant difference in their fuel consumption.  

This year, Shell is taking the campaign beyond the driving challenge with Shell FuelSave Journey, an exciting new online experience. Participants will be able to enhance their knowledge on making smarter choices for better fuel efficiency with the opportunity to win exclusive prizes and rewards.
