BMW has used two busy office buildings for a massive, unique 3D projection display right in the middle of Singapore City Centre – Suntec City, Towers 2 & 3. They transformed busy office buildings in Singapore from a symbol of work, into a symbol of Joy.

Lately, there is a report by Edmunds’ Auto Observer from United States of America correctly points out that the rest of the sports car market isn’t faring nearly so well even for the Japanese Line-up. It shows that sports cars like the once hot Nissan GT-R, with only 106 sales in April, are now struggling for sales. Porsche 911 sales are down 18 percent from a poor 2009, only 428 Mazda RX-8s have been sold in 2010 and Nissan failed to sell 1,000 copies of the fun to drive 370Z.

If you didn’t know, BMW X3 1st generation has been in the market for quite sometime. If you’ve been following our site, there’s some spyshot of upcoming BMW X3 2011 version we reported earlier.

The BMW X3 2011 or rather the 2nd generation of BMW X3 has been scheduled to make it’s official appearance in Paris Motor Show 2011 this year in early October. To create awareness to the market, BMW has put up some BMW X3 2011 teaser shots to the BMW official website.

We predict BMW will publish more teaser shots or possible the photos of the new BMW X3 before the launching date. These teaser photos show the BMW X3 2011 will feature a more shaped/sculpted bonnet which has the styling inherited from the recent BMW 3-Series and BMW 5-series. Also concentrated is the as new rear BMW X3 tail lights.

For those who are eager to know more on the upcoming BMW X3 2011 edition, there’s video capture by the someone and uploaded online. He found a camouflage BMW looking SUV parking on the street and later drove off. It’s a 2 minutes plus video, so enjoy it in detail. The video shows the highly possible new generation of BMW X3 to be more stylish and well as the size is slightly bigger than the first generation BMW X3.

We presume there will be a series of four & six cylinder engine running on petrol or diesel will be available to fit into the BMW X3 2011. From capacity ranging from 2.0 litre to a 3.0 litre tubro-charged that could produce 306 horse power. As the world is looking in to “green” there might be a new electric hybrid engine on the new BMW X3 2011 too. We will continue report as BMW or unofficial news that we are able to get, stay tuned.

AC Schnitzer is still developing the performance upgrade kit for the X6M’s twin-turbocharged V8 engine that churns out 555HP in standard form. For now, AC Schnitzer have release a variety of options to restyle the X6M.

The aero kits by AC Schnitzer for BMW X6M comes with a front spoiler, roof spoiler, bonnet air-vents, rear wing, rear diffuser and design elements for the front skirt and chromed front grille. There’s also a new carbon piece for the bonnet with a see-thru Plexiglas panel.

AC Schnitzer offers a wheel arch kit that adds 40 mm on each side as well as various alloy wheel designs with sizes from 20”, 22” and 23”. A new sport exhaust system with chromed tail-pipes is also available.

For interior works by AC Schnitzer,  they offers a restyled speedometer and rev counter with white dials and red lighting, carbon trim, aluminium footrest and pedal set, floor mats and AC Schnitzer steering wheel.

There will be a new generation of BMW X3 that will be revealed in early 2011. Somehow, this model will be a direct competition with Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and probably the forthcoming Land Rover LRX.

BMW X3 has struggled to match the sales of BMW X5, though BMW has still sold more than 600,000 units globally since the model was initially launched in 2003.

The engines that will be use by BMW X3 include four and six cylinder turbo diesels and a 3.0-litre turbocharged six cylinder gasoline engine that similar to the one on BMW 535i Gran Turismo. The gearbox mated with the engine is likely to be the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox as well.

The overall size of the car will be slightly bigger as BMW aims to increase the size to make a distinction between the X3 and the entry X1.

Audi has step up closer to reaching its goal of becoming the World’s leading Luxury Car brand after overtaking Mercedes-Benz for the first time in quarterly global sales.

The company sold 264,100 vehicles in the first three months of 2010, a 26% year-on-year increase that surpassed Mercedes-Benz with 248,500 sales for the same period.

The Chinese market has contributed to Audi’s success, accounting for nearly a fifth of the company’s sales. The Volkswagen Group premium brand’s 51,449 quarterly sales compared with 24,100 and 34,179 respectively for Mercedes and BMW.

Audi has openly declared its ambition to become the World’s No.1 Luxury Car Maker by 2015, with plans of selling 1.5 million cars a year.

BMW AG remains the luxury car leader after announce global sales for the first quarter increased 13.8 percent from the previous year to 315,614 vehicles, with particularly strong sales in China as well.

Overall, the China emerged as its strongest market, which contributes the largest sales to the Car Maker which not only limited to the German’s Car Makers.

Automakers are introducing a number of different solutions for cleaner and more fuel efficient vehicles. In Australia, there is a war of words over title of greenest car back in 2009.

Every automaker is trying to share the mantle of the country’s most fuel-efficient car as part of their marketing effort.

The new Toyota Prius with 1.8L engine has joined the Mini Cooper Diesel version as Australia most fuel efficient vehicle. Both cars are using just 3.9 litres of fuel per 100km.

Toyota claimed that the larger capacity engine actually improved fuel efficiency at highway speeds because the extra torque. In the other side, BMW have long argued that the Prius is more about marketing spin than genuine breakthrough technology.

In depth, Toyota Australia product manager Ashley Edwards said that while the manual version of the Mini and the Prius used the same amount of fuel, the Prius emitted significantly less carbon dioxide – 89 grams per km, compared with 104g/km for the manual version of the Mini and 134 grams for the automatic Mini. The automatic Mini uses 5L/100km.

Question is whether Battery Cell or more Carbon Dioxide? In terms of eco-friendly, which is a better option? Which is more harmful to the environment? We need to analyse over the supply chain of the battery cell and its lifespan. In the other hand, the Diesel engine will emit a little more CO2.

Vorsteiner take on the 550hp twin turbo V8 BMW X6 M and attempt to spice up with the Omni-carbon VRS Aero Package. The package come with front lip, vented hood, roof spoiler, deck lid spoiler and rear diffuser. The concept car is also fitted with huge 23″ wheels.

BMW has release a free application that can measure your car and your driving performance – BMW M Power Meter. Based on the Apple iPhone 3Gs, *sorry for the others iphones* BMW has make use of the built-in accelerometer in the iphone that does a good job in motion sensor. Those who are into this has probably come across similar application like this but with a cost from Apple Appstore.

In general, this application allows users to measure the g-force and 0-100 times from their iphones. The BMW M Power Meter does most of the paid application do. In fact, in my opinion it is quite complete. Just dock the iphone in your M-car, hit start and you’re good to go. Kids, please do not hold the iphone and drive with 1 hand.The BMW M Power Meter defaults the timing from 0-50 km/h, but you can change that by clicking on settings and choosing from several acceleration options up to 200 km/h or distances ranging from 100 meters to 2,000 meters. BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd says the government’s decision to implement EURO 4M specification for petrol and diesel by 2011 is “encouraging and proactive” to further promote clean and sustainable TECHNOLOGY in the Malaysian automotive industry.

Its managing director Geoffrey Briscoe said BMW Malaysia welcomed the decision to implement the specification, which was highlighted in the latest review of the National Automotive Policy (NAP).

“We see this move as an encouraging and proactive measure by the government to further promote clean and sustainable technology in the Malaysian automotive industry,” he said in a statement released on Wednesday, Oct 28.

The revised NAP, announced on Wednesday, set a clear roadmap for implementing fuel standards. Since September 2009, EURO 2M specification for petrol and diesel has been implemented and this was the latest step to implement the specification by 2011.

Following the announcement, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will establish a roadmap for fuel standards and quality, under the NAP.

Commenting on the latest development in the NAP, Briscoe said the perspective clean and sustainable technology was very much shared by BMW Malaysia and this was demonstrated when it introduced BMW EfficientDynamics to Malaysian market.

“As a way of firmly localising efficient dynamics in Malaysia, BMW is paying particular attention to diesel technology. Diesel technology provide 75% more power  but what is more impressive is that diesel Technology utilises 25% less fuel and emits 20% less carbon dioxide (CO2) which is better for the environment,” he said.  

This was demonstrated by the latest BMW EfficientDynamics cars which were able to travel more than 1,000km on a single tank of fuel with an average CO2 emission rate of 170g per kilometre.

For the everyday person, this means that for every six days of travel time to their work place, two days can be considered free of fuel cost. More importantly, however, is the break the environment is getting.

Briscoe said in support of the government’s effort to offer higher grade fuels, BMW would continue to introduce more efficient dynamics offering to Malaysian customers.
