Chevrolet Camaro 2016 Officially Unveiled in Detroit

The 6th Generation of Chevrolet Camaro finally unveiled in Detroit, since 5th generation the Camaro is just getting better to rival the direct competition – Ford Mustang. The previous generation of Camaro (5ht gen) is developed by Holden Australia with an idea of a common chassis for full size sedan like the commodore or Chevy SS. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is derrived from the rear-wheel drive platform as the Cadillac ATS. A platform that is comparable to BMW 3-series platform in terms of handling.

With the goal of performance in mind, GM/ Chevrolet has losen 200 pounds, shorter than the older model and about an inch lower and narrower for this new Camaro 2016. Some say, the looks are more or less the same with the previous generation but true motorheads won’t mind with that. The Chevrolet Camaro 2016 also comes with  xenon lights and LED “signature strips” in front for the RS and SS models.

More changes comes under the hood, A 2.0L turbo four cylinder make up the base model with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Don’t underestimate this small 2.0L, it is still capable to go under 6 seconds from 0-100km/h. If you more. Camaro also offered in a new 3.6-liter V6 with 330 horsepower engine. However, what’s a true muscle car without a v8. the top of the range, Chevrolet Camaro SS with 6.2L LT1 V8 engine are offered. The same engine with the Chevrolet Corvette that makes an awesome grunt of 455hp. Buyers can opt for a 6-speed manual  shift-stick or an 8 -speed automatic, same goes for the other 2 models.

The Camaro SS manual get the new rev-match system ( like the Nissan 370z) to make down shift smoother. For the first time, there will be selectable driving modes too. The Camaro 2016 SS also comes with Brembo brakes for the other variant, you can upgrade as an optional package.

With some of the retro touches on the outside, the interior are instead more up to date and still retain a retro modern technically advanced feel. A little like the new Mercedes interior. There’s a configurable 8 each display for infotainment. Also new is the “Interior Spectrum Lighting” which allows for It allows for, “24 different ambient lighting effects on the dash, door panels, and center console,” according to the release. Much like a configurable disco LED lights.

Chevrolet Camaro 2016 will be sold in the US 3rd quarter this year. The first model was launch in September 12, 1966. GM stop making them at 2002 on the financial crisis and the Camaro was revived by the Holden Australia team along with movie features like the Transformers in 2009 as Bumblebee. Since then the Camaro has out sold Mustang since 2010. Now it looks like Chevrolet is planning to keep up the competition.
