Two Updated Nissan Navara Variants in Malaysia

Last week, Edaran Tan Chong Motor introduced two Updated Nissan Navara variants namely the Navara 4WD A/T LE and the 4WD M/T SE to the Malaysian market. The Nissan Navara was first launched in 2008. It is well known for its dominant presence coupled with dynamic performance and comfort, which has been making steady inroads into the pick-up segment. The Nissan Navara is one of the Nissan’s top three best-selling models in Malaysia and has garnered many prestigious awards both globally and locally.


Dato’ David Chen, Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor in introducing these two updated variants said, “We are confident that the refinements to the Updated Nissan Navara will strengthen its reputation which is highly rated for its toughness, off-road capabilities and comfort. It continues to be the choice of demanding motorists in the premium pick-up segment, who use it for business purposes, as well as a weekend recreational vehicle.”

The facelift updates to the Nissan Navara have been applied to the 4WD A/T LE and the 4WD M/T SE to address the needs of the public which have been extremely positive with regards to these two variants. The exterior of the Updated Nissan Navara has been refined with an aggressive new bumper design, sporting a revised lower intake and angular corners. A new chrome grill with horizontal panes and with the Nissan logo featured prominently accentuates its luxury look. This treatment has also been applied to the wheels with new alloy rims featuring a new multi-spoke design in a two-tone finish.


Internally, the audio player also been upgraded to a 6” Infotainment Touch Screen Navigator unit with DVD playback, Bluetooth and USB are supported and it also acts as a display for the Reverse Camera.

The Updated Nissan Navara is powered by a fuel efficient 2.5 litre YD25DDTi Common Rail Injection Diesel Engine, producing the highest torque for its capacity. Mated to either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual, the Updated Nissan Navara is currently offered in two variants.  

With safety firmly in mind, the Updated Nissan Navara is equipped with a tough, double-layered high-tensile metal frame, Nissan Zone Body construction, as well as Xenon headlamps (JPJ compliant) to ensure the best possible driving vision during the dark hours. Other standard safety features include Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) dual front airbags. 

The Nissan Navara is available in a total of four colours, Tungsten Silver, Brilliant White, Twilight Grey and Diamond Black for all variants. The new facelift Nissan Navara is available with an on-the-road price of RM 94,834.20 for the 4WD M/T SE and RM 105,834.20 for the 4WD A/T LE, and is now open for booking at Nissan Showrooms in Malaysia.

New Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Pre-launch Sales On Now in Malaysia

Many spy shots and rumors surfaced on the internet about the new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid for fellow Malaysian motorists. The new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (Smart Hybrid) will soon become the latest talk-of-the-town in Malaysia. As we learned from our source, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) had spent their time by putting this car on road test since early this year. 

Before the official launch, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) is providing an exclusive sneak preview of Malaysia’s first Hybrid Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) with behind-the-scenes insights of the video production.

The creative ideas behind the production of the videos were conceptualized with the theme “Meet The Hybrids – New Age Family, New Age MPV” which ideally represents the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid. This concept showcases a family that has embraced new technologies, making them more modern and connected compared to conventional families.

The new Serena S-Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-litre (MR20DD) direct fuel injection 4-cylinder DOHC petrol engine with Twin CVTC and Nissan’s S-Hybrid system, couple with Xtronic CVT transmission with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). The entire power plant offers max power of 147ps @ 5,600rpm and max torque of 210Nm @ 4,400rpm at your disposal. Similar to other hybrid vehicles in the market, the Nissan S-Hybrid system’s is technically works from a combination of electric motor, battery, idling stop/start and electric power regeneration.

And of course, the factory options like intelligent key (i-key) for keyless entry and dual power-sliding doors are not neglected in this model. Both come standard with the car in Malaysia.

The new Serena S-Hybrid is fully imported from Japan and comes with 3 years or 100,000km warranty by Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) in Malaysia. During the pre-launch sales period, there will be an attractive Early Bird Promotion. Starting from today, the promotion consists of a Motorist Personal Accident Insurance package, relatively low hire-purchase interest rates and a free service package.

Nissan Urvan and Nissan Serena For Infiniti Red Bull Racing at Malaysian F1 GP

As part of domestic hospitality and support, 6 units of Nissan Urvans and 2 units of Nissan Serenas are affixed with Infiniti Red Bull Racing logos to provide the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team transportation support for 8 consecutive days (18th – 25th March 2013) to ferry their equipments and staffs at the F1 Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Nissan Navara Proven in 2012 Rainforest Challenge

2012 Rainforest Challenge was held in Malacca from 1-10 December 2012. There are adventurers coming from 22 nations participate from Venezuela, USA, Austria, Australia, Poland, Russia (Moscow & Vladivostok), Vietnam, China (Hong Kong & Guangzhou), Brunei, Colombia, Bulgaria, Philippines, Thailand, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, India, Singapore. Host country Malaysia was naturally the biggest contingent with participating teams and enthusiasts.



With more than 100 times winching across 12 hills with the 4×4 and crossing a stretch of 12 kilometers in 36 hours. Those were the days of high adventure which needs to be told and retold as thriller in the Twilight Zone.



The Nissan Navara proven in the 2012 Rainforest Challenge as support vehicle. Technically, The Nissan Navaras, supped up as RFC X-Edition accessories (Warn XDC 9500 ARB deluxe winch bar, OME shocks, Safari Snorkel, IPF spotlights, Maxxis tyres & Auto Diff Locks) thus, reinforcing their off- road capabilities, were at the entry and exit of the Twilight Zone assisting in the crucial moments of supplying water and dry rations to the scouts and officials at the Event Headquarters campsite. These rations were then brought in by trekkers who resupplied them to the exhausted adventurers and media members struggling out of the Twilight Zone.


The Nissan Navaras with extended accessories were fully capable in maneuvering out of tricky situations and obstacles like slipping and sliding across rutted terrain, water, muddy stretches and gullies, thus providing the important life-line supplies at the most crucial moments of RFC 2012.

Electric-powered Nissan Leaf As Eco Innovation of Year 2012

Although I have checked out this car in Tokyo back in end of 2010. Recently, the electric powered Nissan Leaf was awarded the Eco Innovation Award of the Year 2012 under NST Maybank COTY 2012 in Malaysia.




As you aware the Nissan Leaf is not yet available for sale in Malaysia, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has been running their Leaf Ambassador Programme for the last 6 months in Malaysia to build the awareness of electric vehicles and give Malaysians a chance to experience the Leaf in their daily lives for six weeks.




Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of ETCM, said “We are currently running our Leaf Pilot Programme with the objective of promoting eco green mobility. We are confident our programme will create awareness and educate the public on the importance of eco green mobility. We have just completed our first two batches of Leaf Ambassadors and their feedback on the car have been extremely encouraging”.


The Nissan Leaf was not the only Nissan recognised at the Awards. The multipurpose vehicle, Nissan Elgrand was awarded Premium MPV of the Year 2012. This fully-imported premium MPV comes equipped with premium features such as a private theatre entertainment system and an Advanced Around View Monitor parking camera which impressed the panel of judges.
