Guess what? The new Prius C is priced from AUD 23,990 which is equivalent to RM 77,300. Precisely, this car is AUD 6,000 (after currency conversion: RM 19,333) less than Honda Insight in Australia. Well, I am started to feel lost about full exemption on import and excise duty for hybrid cars and EVs in Malaysia which valid until 2013. Is it now partial? Here in Malaysia, the Prius C priced at RM 97,000 OTR with insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

Back to the topic, this new Prius C exhibits a unique personality designed to attract an entirely new audience of singles, couples and young families in Australia. Toyota now offers three hybrid cars in Australia, with Prius C joining the Prius and Australia manufactured Camry Hybrid.
The proven hybrid system returns just 3.7 litres/100km on the city cycle and 3.9 litres/100km on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 90 grams/km.

“Prius C adopts the name of the world’s best known and best selling hybrid vehicle, Prius, to communicate it has the advanced features and excellent fuel efficiency unique to Toyota’s hybrid vehicles.
“Prius C is further evidence of Toyota’s commitment to achieving greater market penetration for hybrids by making this core technology more attainable for a wider audience,” he said.
The exterior colours selections are slightly more than Malaysian model. The exterior colours include Glacier White, White Mist (crystal pearl), Silver Pearl, Graphite, Ink (black), Cherry, Sunrise (orange), Aqua, and Tidal Blue. The interior uses black as the basic interior colour with contrasting lighter colours for the door trims, seat surfaces and the instrument panel.

As you might know, the hybrid battery and fuel tank are placed under the rear seat. That’s how it provide optimum luggage space and allowing for a full-size spare wheel.
