The tuning engineers at ABT Sportsline's developed two performance kits for the new GTI with option of 260hp and 300hp.

For the first kit, ABT adding the usual ECU and exhaust system upgrades that lift output to 260 horsepower.

In addition to these enhancements, the second kit adds a new turbocharger that helps boost power to 300HP allowing the car to accelerate from rest to 100km/h in under 6.0 seconds. In comparison, the factory Golf GTI VI sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 7.2 seconds.

Helping to improve the GTI's handling is a set of lower, stiffer springs plus a high-performance brake system and newly designed 18 or 19 inch alloys.

ABT also developed an appearance package for the GTI that takes the red pin stripe theme to a new level. The kit consists of a new grille, front bumper with LED daytime lights and a lip spoiler, side skirts, roof spoiler and a rear diffuser.

For interior dressing, ABT upgraded the GTI's interior with red accents on the steering wheel, the instrument gauges the dashboard and the door trims.

There is no pricing indication for comprehensive sport package from ABT, however ABT mentioned that they will announced at a later date.

United States car service : They're such a niche performance car, but VW does some pretty cool things with their models. The short wheelbase is pretty unique among sportscars and lets you do some ultra-cool things with it (as long as you aren't averse to buying tires and paying your mechanic!)

Malaysia tm : Whatever VW is going through as a corporate org, they better improve their quality & service levels (quite obviously they are not aligned in terms of sales and service) otherwise the VW brand will cease to exist, due to producing bad quality cars.
I'd recently purchased and am a new VW owner, M6 Golf GTI. I am experiencing gear box issues with this car. I had encountered this problem twice this week. What happened was that in the midst of driving, the safe mode kicked in, as a result the gear did not engage causing the speed of the car to remained stagnant. I could not even engage the reverse gear even when the car was stationary. Had to stop at the side of the road, turn off the engine and restart the car.
This morning (27/02) brought it over to the Sungai besi Service Centre for a check up and the mechanic said that their troubleshooting showed that its a sporadic problem hence they cannot escalate the issue to replace the gear box. So i was told to go back and if it happens again bring it back for them to test again. Its extremely dangerous if this happened while i was overtaking another vehicle.
Essentially the message I got from VW wearnes is that they will only take it seriously if this problem occurs again and they can test it as a permanent fault in the system or if I get into an accident in this car? Talk about great customer service and absolutely reassuring piece of vehicle.
Anyway, this car is less than 3 months old, just had its first 1000 km service on 10th Feb 2010. Not recommending anyone to buy this car.. its over price & UNSAFE. I thought it was a to-die-for car.. Terribly disappointed.
