Proton Satria Neo R3 Supercharged – EXCLUSIVE!

As a tribute for Lotus Renault GP, Proton R3 division has developed an version of Proton Satria Neo R3 for the it. Currently we would like to call it Proton Satria Neo R3 Supercharged.

However unlike the previously version of natural aspirated version of Campro or Campro CPS engine, this super hot hatch with black, gold and red theme rocks outs a 175hp and 200Nm of torque.

The bodykits of this  Proton Satria Neo R3 Supercharged is similar to the previous Satria Neo CPS R3 Lotus Racing Edition. Inside there’s it’s all Black with Highlighted Hot Red theme, and as we notice is fitted with R3 gear knob and R3 Racing Pedals.

As the car is still on prototype stage, there could be further improvements as well as changes to the car. The supercharger is by An Australian company call Sprintex - www.sprintex.com.au . It is also said that this could be the supercharger to power up future Proton units, like the Proton Exora Supercharged.

As you can see in the photo above, the super charger is mounted behind the Campro CPS engine. In future there might be possibility this supercharger will be offered to existing Proton Satria Neo CPS as an add on to their cars.

Proton Satria Neo R3 Concept at KLIMS 2010

There is one hidden treasure from Proton which on display at KLIMS 2010. Regrettably, we did not post it on time although we were there on Day 1.

 

Introducing the Proton Satria Neo R3 Concept

The engine of this concept car is tweaked with 200hp and 250Nm of torque based on 1.6L Campro CPS engine with turbo-charger, R3 forged pistons, steel conrod, performance camshafts, custom cylinder heads, performance air filter, performance exhaust system and ECU. This powerplant is mated with a close ratio manual transmission. Based on the dyno result, this car is capable to churn 170hp and 200Nm on wheel.

 

This Proton Satria Neo R3 Concept uses AP Racing Braking System which comes with 4-pot callipers on the front. Similar to the Limited Edition of Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing, the car is also fitted with Ohlins suspension kit. You will also find a bolt on 4-point half roll cage inside the car. The car wears a set of 195/50 R 15 Bridgestone Potenza RE55S semi slicks tyres on 15 inch wheels. Obviously, this car is track ready with its entire package.

Interior wise, you will find a pair of genuine Recaro seats wrapped with Nappa leather with Sparco Harness Belts, Sparco R323 steering wheel wrapped with Alcantara, and Racing Display Panel.

Personally, I am tempting to know the lap records of this R3 Concept Car in Sepang International Circuit.

Proton Recall Satria Neo & Gen2 2004-2008

Proton  recalls 16,000 cars over clock spring defect that has raised some safety concerns. The affected models are Proton Satria Neo and Proton Gen2 equipped with the auto-cruise function, manufactured between April, 2004 to June, 2008. In another words, most of the affected model are the H-Line models Auto models.

What is Clock Spring?


A Clock Spring  is located behind your steering wheel, between where your dashboard and steering wheel connects. It connects the switches and airbag in the steering wheel to the radio, horn and cruise control.


The defect of the clock spring could cause the following incidents,

1. Noises when turning the steering wheel.

2.Unintentional triggering of the car horn.

3.Malfunction of car audio remote button on the steering wheels.

4.Self-deployment of the air bag.

5.Unable to start car due to short circuit of the electronic components.

Proton announced this recall as part of their Global Quality Assurance program, this recall will affect 15,911 units of vehicle which is 2% of 660,000 sold within 2004-2008.
