Edaran Tan Chong Motor Introduced First Four Nissan LEAF Ambassadors

Precisely on yesterday – 16 July in One Utama, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has introduced their first 4 Nissan LEAF ambassadors –Daniel Yap, Jason Goh, Yoong Huey Yee and Rizman Harith Merican for its ‘Journey To Zero Emission’ program, the first program in Malaysia which involves a Nissan electric vehicle (EV).

 

 

The ambassadors will be the first few to use the EV in their daily lives for up to 6 weeks. They will share their daily experience with friends and the public via different mediums such as video clips, write-ups as well as to provide valuable feedback to ETCM on the performance of LEAF in local conditions.

 

 

ETCM’s executive director, Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng commented, “We have received tremendous response for the ‘Journey To Zero Emission’ program. Selecting the first 4 ambassadors proved to be a much more difficult task than we initially thought; simply because of the many high quality submissions that we have received!”

 

The LEAF ambassador application is still open and the previous applicants still stand a chance to be selected. ETCM would like to have as many Malaysians experience the LEAF in real life situations to create a better understanding of the EVs.

 

“Do not be discouraged if your application was not selected in the first phase.  This program is ongoing and do submit your application fast as you may be the next ambassador!” added Dato’ Dr. Ang.

 

ETCM is proud to introduce the LEAF in Malaysiain its ‘Journey To Zero Emission’ to support the government’s green direction, and also Nissan’s commitment to be the global leader in zero emission mobility.

Nissan Leaf EV Open For Public Test Drive in Malaysia

On this coming 5th & 6th May 2012, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) is pleased to invite the all general public to experience the world’s first mass produced, all-electric and zero-emission Nissan vehicle at Jalan Kemajuan Showroom in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Attendees at the “Journey to Zero Emission” event can get behind the wheel of the industry’s most-discussed vehicle and discover the new technology and innovation by themselves.

 

 

“At Nissan, we are investing in a portfolio of ‘green’ technology that includes the much-awaited zero-emission vehicle. With zero carbon dioxide emissions and zero particles, our electric car will be the most environmentally friendly mass produced model in the world. This car is also safe, fun to drive, well engineered and attractive. We are excited to invite the public to drive the car because we know they will be impressed,” explained Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng, the Executive Director of ETCM.

Nissan Leaf Spotted in Petaling Jaya

According to Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn. Bhd. (ETCM) for Nissan in Malaysia on end of last year, the company announced that a Pilot Programme on the zero-emission 100% electric Nissan Leaf will be conducted in Malaysia sometime in 1st half of 2012.

 

Today, FastMotoring crew spotted a local-registered Nissan Leaf is already on the road in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

A quick introduction, the Nissan Leaf is a 5-door mid-size hatchback electric vehicle (EV). The Leaf consumes energy of 765kJ/km to power-up the 80kW (110hp) synchronous motor mated with single-speed direct drive transmission. LEAF stands for Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car.

 

Based on our speculation, the Pilot Programme seems to be just started in Malaysia. Practically, we are thrilled to know more about this award-winning Nissan Leaf under local conditions. Period in-between, stay updated with us about this.

Pilot Program in Malaysia for Nissan LEAF Electric Vehicle (EV)

In conjunction of the Nissan global release about Nissan LEAF won the Car of the Year Japan 2011-2012 award at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show. In Malaysia, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) – Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng also announce that a pilot program for the zero-emission 100% electric Nissan LEAF will be introduced in Malaysia in 1st half of 2012.

He added that this pilot program in Malaysia is in line with Nissan’s comprehensive efforts toward the realization of a zero-emission society. Moreover, the Pilot program will involve Electric Vehicle awareness sharing and experimental drives to the local Government bodies, members of the media as well as public audiences.

Nissan LEAF was also named the 2012 RJC Car of the Year award winner, presented by the Automotive Researchers’ & Journalists’ Conference of Japan, in addition to winning the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame’s 2011-2012 Car of the Year, the 2011 European Car of the Year and the 2011 World Car of the Year accolades. The Car of the Year Japan honor is another recognition of the Nissan LEAF’s value and attractiveness that has received high praise from customers around the world.
