After the KLIMS 2010, many people especially the local are aware about the upcoming 2012 Proton Persona replacement model.

During the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, Proton exhibited all of their concept car models – Tuah, Lekir, Lekiu, Kasturi and Jebat. The Tuah is most likely the upcoming Proton Persona replacement model.

The front looks like one of the popular Korean car model. From the side, it looks a bit like one of the German car model. The rear looks like the Subaru Legacy sedan (BD). However, the prototype concept may not fully render into the production model. Apparently, the entire design looks good and fit to be seen.

In addition, Proton’s MD Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin is currently working to change the power window perception of Proton. Therefore, the primary auto parts maker is working to develop a better and more reliable window regulator for Persona replacement model.

There is one hidden treasure from Proton which on display at KLIMS 2010. Regrettably, we did not post it on time although we were there on Day 1.

Introducing the Proton Satria Neo R3 Concept

The engine of this concept car is tweaked with 200hp and 250Nm of torque based on 1.6L Campro CPS engine with turbo-charger, R3 forged pistons, steel conrod, performance camshafts, custom cylinder heads, performance air filter, performance exhaust system and ECU. This powerplant is mated with a close ratio manual transmission. Based on the dyno result, this car is capable to churn 170hp and 200Nm on wheel.

This Proton Satria Neo R3 Concept uses AP Racing Braking System which comes with 4-pot callipers on the front. Similar to the Limited Edition of Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing, the car is also fitted with Ohlins suspension kit. You will also find a bolt on 4-point half roll cage inside the car. The car wears a set of 195/50 R 15 Bridgestone Potenza RE55S semi slicks tyres on 15 inch wheels. Obviously, this car is track ready with its entire package.

Interior wise, you will find a pair of genuine Recaro seats wrapped with Nappa leather with Sparco Harness Belts, Sparco R323 steering wheel wrapped with Alcantara, and Racing Display Panel.

Personally, I am tempting to know the lap records of this R3 Concept Car in Sepang International Circuit.

During KLIMS 2010, Honda Malaysia displayed an Australia Spec FN2 Civic Euro Type R as one of the show car. Since the legendary FD2 Type R had discontinued early this year, the FN2 Type R is the only Type R left in Production. The FN2 Type-R is only produced at Honda’s Swindon factory in the UK. However, we are unable to confirm whether Honda Malaysia replacing the Type R model with FN2 like what’s happening in Japan.

Although this model has been sometime, we will briefly walk-thru it. The FN2 Civic Euro Type R is offered only as a 3 door hatchback and uses a different chassis and internal layout than JDM FD2 Type R. The rear suspension is on torsion beam axle. This car is powered by de-tuned K20A engine with less performance. No Brembo callipers on the front brake. It runs on 225/40 R18 Y88 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres as standard. Most importantly, the car is RON95 compatible (part of the reasons lead to less performance) due to Euro Spec.

Chery Automobile is an automobile manufacturer in China. It is the largest independent Chinese auto manufacturer and one of the fastest growing automakers in the world. According to statistics provided, Chery produced 508,500 units of automobile in 2009.

In KLIMS 2010, the Chinese Automaker exhibiting their first Lithium Ion battery powered Electric Vehicle (EV). The electric M1 has a top speed of 120 km/h and can cover 150km on a single charge.

In addition to the Chery M1-EV, Chery also presented the Chery X1, Tiggo, and Storm 2.

Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia presented the MiEV Concept models in KLIMS 2010. The new concept from Mitsubishi PX-MiEV and i MiEV Sport Air are displayed throughout the Motor Show.

The technologies of MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) motors are constructed using an in-wheel motor rotor, an in-wheel motor stator, a rotor bracket, stator bracket and inverter directly behind the brakes. The batteries can be charged from a standard 15 A/200 V car charger in seven hours and with a three-phase electric power charged in 25 minutes (for up to 80 percent of full capacity).

PX-MiEV is a prototype plug-in hybrid crossover utility vehicle which first exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009.

i MiEV Sport Air was previously premiered at Geneva Motor Show in 2009 and the car is proposition of a proper sports car as an electric vehicle.

Besides displaying those concept cars from Mitsubishi Motors, the Japanese automaker also display some of the production car models in KLIMS 2010. In addition, a Rally-ready Pajero Sport was also there.
