All New 2013 Honda Civic 1.8, 2.0, 2.0 Navi and Hybrid Launched in Malaysia

Today, Honda Malaysia quench our thirst and satisfied our eagerness by unveiling the new 9th generation Honda Civic Malaysia. As expected, the leak information and photos of 9th Generation Honda Civic as we posted just yesterday was true. As Honda claimed the new Honda Civic is designed with an “Advanced Smart Sedan” concept. There are many handy and smart features with the 9th Gen Honda Civic. Photo shown below is the New Civic with Modulo bodykit.

For this generation of Honda Civic, Malaysian gets the identical design with the Honda Civic US edition. This could be due to the 8th Gen Honda Civic has been stop selling in Japan since 2010 and this 9th Generation Honda Civic will be not on sale in Japan. After clarification during the press conference, we found out that the development of the 9th Generation Civic is still remained in Honda Headquarters, Japan.

For the Civic 2.0L models, there will be High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights with projector this time. The rest of the variants, it will be standard halogen with projector lamp.

The 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC (R18A) engine produces 141hp @ 6,500 rpm where as the 2.0L SOHC i-VTEC (R20A) will produce 155hp @ 6,500 rpm. The new 2.0L SOHC i-VTEC that is identical to the new Accord’s engine has been tuned to give the new Civic a different engine characteristic. The new Civic 1.8 offers a max torque of 174Nm, while the 2.0 offers a max torque of 190Nm. Both engine max torque at 4,300 rpm.

From the rear, Honda claims the rear lights highlight the sexy rear design of the Civic. But, this rear lights remind us that it does look similar to the current Mercedes-Benz C-class rear lights. The overall length of the 9th Generation Civic remained the same as the 8th Generation Civic.

The all-new 9th Gen Honda Civic features the similar 2-layered dashboard layout that found in the previous generation but now enhanced with series of new technologies and a more driver-centric design. A 5-inch intelligent Multi Information Display (i-MID) is fitted next to the digital speedometer to promote smart and efficient driving. Like the facelifted Honda City earlier, the new Honda Civic will features the Eco Assist functions, which helps driver improve the vehicle fuel efficiency by changing colours from blue to green to guide driver to achieve a better fuel economy driving pattern. The Honda Civic 2.0L models and the Hybrid model will not require metal car keys as there’s Smart Entry and Push Start Button. Drivers of the Civic 2.0L will get to enjoy some manual gear shifting with the paddle shift controller.

Honda Civic 2012 Malaysia Spyshot

Whether are you a Honda Civic fan or not, I believe many of you guys are eagerly waiting for this Thursday. This coming Thursday will be the official birth date of the all-new Malaysian version of Honda Civic (9th Generation). However, some managed to view the car earlier and some photos has been taken. These leaks photos are extracted from the internet and it is believe it has been taken in Malaysia. We are unable to disclose the source. Nevertheless, let’s have an early overview of the 9th Gen Civic in Malaysia.

From the front, Honda has fitted projector head lights to the all-new Civic. Overall the car looks more angular. The 9th generation, certainly looks more serious and aggressive looking.

Interestingly, this photo here indicated, there will be a Honda Civic Hybrid model. We hope Honda will be able to put an attractive price tag  due to Malaysia’s government duty exemption for hybrid cars. We believe the Hybrid Civic model will be equipped with 1.5-litre Hybrid IMA (CVT) engine which is identical with the Honda CR-Z. As for the rear design, I’ll let you guys to comment below.

Interior wise, Honda will be using the 2 layer design found in the previous generation of Civic. From the photos we do notice that the top layer will display the digital speedometer and with an additional Multi-Information Display (MID). Steering wheel has been redesigned and the overall dashboard has been tweak to more driver focus and more executive look and feel.

 

We also heard the rumour that Honda Malaysia will be offering a 5 years warranty for the all-new 2012 Honda Civic and the service interval will be 10,000km instead of 5,000km. More information will be reported if we receive, else the all-new Honda Civic 2012 Malaysia will be unveiled tomorrow on 12 July 2012.

All-New 9th Generation Honda Civic Go ECO With Concept of Smart Advanced Technology

It is such a big surprise that the all-new 9th generation Honda Civic has sold over 135,000 units from January to May 2012 and beating all the other competitors to become the No. 1 choice in its segment in the USA. In reality, this particular model set to launch on next week and replacing the well-liked 8th generation Honda Civic in Malaysia.

 

Today, Honda Malaysia announced that the All-New Civic will soon be making a smart appearance with strings of improvements. Among which are increased fuel economy on all variants, further addition of interactive technologies for personalization and convenience, enhancements to performance, drive and interior styling.

 

 

“Civic has always been the number one choice in its segment. With its futuristic advanced technology, the All-New Civic continues to fulfil customers’ demand for a ride with smart technology. Introduced as a smart sedan with energetic drive, futuristic technology, improved fuel efficiency and new level of comfort, the All-New Civic is designed to connect human and machine more closely,” said Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia.

 

For Malaysian market, the All-New Civic is readily available in three variants – 1.8L i-VTEC, 2.0L i-VTEC and 2.0L Navi. The 1.8L’s engine remains the same as the existing model but has been enhanced for better fuel consumption. The 2.0L variant now adopts a SOHC i-VTEC engine as compared to the previous DOHC i-VTEC. With this, it is able to achieve better fuel economy yet maintains the much desired driving performance.

 

 

The key aspect of smart technology in the All-New Civic is spelled out in its advanced styling. On the outside, the streamlined silhouette evokes a cleaner but yet energetic impression. The unique mono-form framework clearly embodies grace and style. Complete with redesigned exterior, the car presents a wider spectrum on both the front and the rear. Featuring a futuristic cockpit design, the esteemed two-tier dashboard has been greatly enhanced to match the stylish interior. The overall improvement not only makes driving fun, it gives driver better control, comfortable space and intelligent assistance.

 

With a state-of-the-art multiplex meter, the cockpit resembles a high-tech console that links the main display and a series of other control functions. Through advanced technology, driver is able to access various controls such as audio setting and cruise control from the steering wheel. With a five-inch colour intelligent multi information display (i-MID), informative readings such as fuel consumption, audio details and other supporting information are clearly visible and easy on the eyes. The smart interface concept also promotes safe driving while prompting interactivity between driver and the car.

 

 

Taking smart technology further, the All-New Civic is Honda’s first non-hybrid vehicle fitted with ECO Assist functions, which include the ECON Mode button. When activated, the ECON Mode button combines and performs a series of ECO Assist functions including optimizing control of the Drive By Wire (DBW), Automatic Transmission (AT) Shift Map, air conditioner, engine and related powertrain components. This intelligent combination is able to improve the vehicle fuel efficiency markedly.

 

Furthermore, there is a driver feedback function – the ambient meter display with changing background colours provides real-time guidance to drivers on best ways to achieve higher fuel efficiency.

 

Another noteworthy smart feature is the built-in NAVI operation system. Through the touch screen display, driver is able to navigate from one destination to the next easily while driving. In addition, the new ride also comes with reverse camera that makes reversing a breeze. Smart and advance, the Civic 2.0 variant offers a series of premium features such as Driver Power Seat, Head Lamp auto-off Timer, Smart Entry and Push Start Button, Cruise Control and side SRS Airbag.

 

In addition, the All-New Civic is greatly enhanced with sound proof package to minimise noise for a more comfortable ride that makes driving fun.

 

The All-New Civic has obtained a 5-star EURO NCAP safety rating for occupants and pedestrian. The refined Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure provides improved crash compatibility between vehicles of different size and ride height. It is embedded with front and side Airbags with Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). Taking security to a higher level, the Civic has combined the VSA system with an advanced Motion Adaptive EPS (Electric Power Steering) system that helps drivers to control during oversteer and understeer conditions. Furthermore, The All-New Civic complies with the UN R94 Regulation – Protection of the Occupants in the Event of a Frontal Collision as all variants features come standard with a sun visor label, rear centre head rest, 3 point ELR safety belt and rear ISO Fix.

 

For individuals that preferred for the hybrid power plant, the All-New Civic Hybrid will also be launch after this, so be patient just wait a little longer. According to Honda Malaysia, the All-New Civic Hybrid is set to be the Advanced Smart Hybrid Sedan with futuristic distinctive efficiency. It will be a 1.5-litre engine instead of 1.3-litre. How futuristic it can be? We are looking forward for this launch as well!!

2012 Honda Civic Sedan in Australia with 1.8 VTi-L, 2.0 Sport and 1.5 Hybrid

It is undeniable that the soon to be outgoing eighth-generation Honda Civic has been the most popular Civic of all time. Last month, the all-new Honda Civic Sedan was launched in Australia with 3 variants – 1.8-litre VTi-L (Manual & Auto), 2.0-litre Sport (Auto) and 1.5-litre Hybrid IMA (CVT).

To improve fuel efficiency, the Eco Assist Display and Econ Driving Mode from the hybrid models have been inherited to the new Civic across all variants (1.8 or 2.0 and Hybrid). As you might know, ECON mode helps maximise fuel efficiency by adjusting the performance of the engine, transmission, heating and cooling system, and cruise control.

The Civic VTi-L comes with 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine with total output of 104kW @ 6500rpm and max torque of 174Nm @ 4300rpm. For the Civic Sport, 2.0-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine with 114kW @ 6500rpm and max torque of 190Nm @ 4300rpm. On top of that, the Sport model come with 17-inch alloy wheels instead of 16-inch on VTi-L, auto headlights, electric sunroof, front fog lights, leather-appointed seat trim and rain-sensing wipers.

For Civic Hybrid, now it comes with 1.5-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA). The powertrain output 82kW @ 5500rpm and 172Nm of max torque between 1000rpm-3500rpm. To further improve the fuel efficiency on the hybrid, a set of 15-inch alloy wheels as factory standard.

Instead of 6-speed manual, the all-new Honda Civic VTi-L manual remained using 5-speed manual transmission. The Civic VTi-L and Civic Sport automatic come with 5-speed automatic transmission. While the Civic Hybrid features continuously variable transmission (CVT). Instead of conventional hydraulic power steering on 1.8-litre variant, the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is now standard across the board.

According to Honda Australia, the new Civic has more sound-proofing insulation around the engine, doors and wheel wells. It is claimed to be the quietest Civic yet. Without us test driving on the new car, we are unable to remark its new improvements and features. Based on fact figures, it seems the new Civic is now better than before in many aspects. Moving forward, the only way to us is to fly down to Australia or wait for the local debut in Malaysia to review the car in-depth.

The new Honda Civic sedan is covered by a standard 3-year/100,000km warranty and the Civic Hybrid’s lithium-ion battery is protected by warranty for 8 years.

2012 Honda Civic Euro 5-Door Hatchback With Videos

2012 Honda Civic Hatchback

As you might have known that the all-new 2012 Honda Civic 5-door hatchback was unveiled at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany from an article in our previous post.

 

The 9thgeneration of Honda Civic 5-door hatchback will launch in early next year and produced exclusively at Honda’s Swindon factory in the UK. Regrettably, this model will be available in Europe only.

 

The new 2012 Honda Civic Euro was available with a choice of three engines. This includes a 100HP 1.4-litre petrol, a 142HP 1.8-litre petrol, and a 150HP 2.2-litre turbo diesel.

 

On the other hand, Honda is planning to launch an even more economical and environmentally friendly engine in the form of a smaller displacement diesel engine.

 

“By the end of 2012, we will add a newly developed smaller diesel engine to the Civic range,” stated Honda Motor President and CEO, Takanobu Ito, during the Frankfurt Motor Show presentation. “Designed specifically for the European market, the new engine will further reduce CO2 emissions,” he added.
